The Best Bible Verses for Writers
The life of an author is a faith walk. You put yourself out there and hope that your words and your storytelling will be enough to captivate an audience, or maybe you’re like me, and you just have a lot to get off your chest. When I write, I feel like I’m being who God made me to be, and operating fully in my gift. That doesn’t mean it’s an easy road. Nurturing your life as a writer takes a lot of discipline and faith. I hope these Bible verses encourage you along your journey!
1) When you feel like giving up, remember:
“I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” Philippians 4:13
2) When you forget how much your skills have grown:
“My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer.” Psalm 45:1
3) When you need to be reminded of your inherent, God given abundance and creativity:
“The words of the mouth are deep waters, but the fountain of wisdom is a rushing stream.” Proverbs 18:4
4) When you’re going through a difficult season in life, so you pick up your Bible because you know that God’s love is constant.
“The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever.” Isaiah 40:8
5) A huge part of being a writer is learning and passing that learning on to others through your words.
“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you.” Psalm 32:8
6) Sometimes it doesn’t seem like things are going to plan with your writing career. You may not be able to see how this writing ambition will pan out. Here’s a bible verse for those times:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6
7) Everything you desire is within your grasp as long as you continue to honor God in everything you do.
“Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4
8) You have a God given gift and a story to tell. God is going to give you the strength to do everything that’s yours to do.
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms. If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.” 1 Peter 4:10-11
