Welcome to the WriteHealThrive Collective on Spoken Black Girl

Why I started the collective

If there’s anything I have learned from my experience as a Black woman writer, it’s that we need each other deeply.

Community is essential to helping women of color writers thrive in a field of work where our stories are not often marginalized and erased. Over the years of publishing Black and brown women writers, curating events, interviews, workshops, self-care challenges and so much more, we have seen the power of community. It gives life’s greatest opportunities. You don’t have to keep waiting to be invited to the table. We can and will create the spaces that we need to thrive.

It takes support, accountability, and the encouragement of folks who understand what you are striving for as a writer, the challenges you face, and care about your success to really begin to grow as a writer. We count on each other’s support, advice, and accountability. Building relationships has been the most integral part of my writing career. Even if you just meet one person who changes your life in this collective or hear one word of advice, one speaker, or one writing prompt that turns into your next book. We are here to spark each other’s imagination. We’re here to share resources on self-care so that our cups are full and we’re able to create and share our gifts with the world!

We are healing as we create. We are finding our voices and not allowing the world to silence us. We’re taking our power back by telling our stories. Welcome to the Write Heal Thrive Collective.
